IF I WERE IAN MCDARMID FOR A DAY

Its 10 a.m. Lights dim. Time For the morning show.Another episode of everybody's favorite all action adventure serial. It could be the King's Theatre, Dundee, Scotland, any Saturday over 50 years ago. I would have endured a Pathe Newsreel, managed a cheeras Jerry outwitted Tom, and would now be eargerly anticipating the next hair and hackle-raising instalment of Improbable Good versus Impossible Evil. However, its not post-war Dundee. It's 2005, and I'm north of San Francisco at Skywalker Ranch. But today I am just a kid again, waiting for the scroll to roll at a private screening of Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, the final filmed episode of the six-part Star Wars saga, where for once, Evil will Vanquish Good, and it will be all my fault. I first encountered Emperor Palpatine at Elstree Studios in the early 1980s. He was staring bvack at me through a make-up mirror, larger than life and fifty times as ugly.Yellow contacts stung my eyes and afforded little vision. As I walked onto a vast sound stage that has had been transformed into a starship hangar, populated by seemingly endless platoons of gleaming white stormtroopers, the scale of George Lucas's vision hit me. This was a space spectacle, a back-drop for a galactic opera of Wagnerian diamension. Time passed. The prequels unfolded and, as Palpatine shed years and dissapeared behind a politician's mask- which happily turned out to be my face-the digital moviemaking revolution gathered pace, as backdrops ceded control to blue cloths. And now, as I watch the denouement of the saga that has been part of my life for over two decades, I am caught up once more in this epic story. As harsh beams of light glint off the freshly minted armour of Palpatine's tragic apprentice, a smug smile of contentment flickers over the reptillian features of his evil master, the self-procalimed Emperor of the galaxy. But there is hope. Twin babes blink as the sun sets on the Old Republic, with the promise that for a future generation, dark will yield once more to light. As the auditorium lights returned me to a sort of reality, I sit, not wanting to move, savoring the heady mixture of saddness and elation and thinking, "Well, they just don't make them like that anymore..." ____________________________________________________________________________________________

STAR WARS. "MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU" BY GEORGE LUCAS STARRING: MARK HAMILL, CARRIE FISHER, HARRISON FORD, ANTHONY DANIELS, KENNY BAKER, ALEC GUINNESS, DAVID PROWSE, JAMES EARL JONES, BOB ANDERSON, FRANK OZ, BILLY DEE WILLIAMS, IAN MCDARMID, SEBASTIAN SHAW, DENNIS LAWSON, LIAM NEESON, EWAN MCGREGOR, NATALIE PORTMAN, JAKE LLOYD, AHMED BEST, SAMUEL L. JACKSON, HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN, JIMMY SMITS, PERNILLA AUGUST, MATTHEW WOOD AND LEENA WALLSMAN. A New Hope(1977) Very good; losing out on the animation factor. A laser bolt streaks past like a snail. The Empire Strikes Back(1980)Enjoy yourself in this Force-full Sci-Fi flick.. Did you look at the part where the tiny green dwarf (as Luke Skywalker thought so) lifted out a gigantic X-Wing from a bog?? Return of the Jedi(1983) A happy ending. Critics blasted the changing of Sebastian Shaw's ghostly glowing face to Hayden Christensen's at the ending where the Rebel Alliance celebrated on a planet with ther furry counterparts and with the ghostly trio. The Phantom Menace(1999) Pity a Jedi Master Died. Sci-Fi Action genre. Attack of the Clones(2002) A Jedi shall not know hatred, nor passion, nor... love. Revenge of the Sith(2005)Vengence is sweet...

H.WOOD - DONE SIXTH

THE ISLAND BY MICHAEL BAY STARRING:EWAN MCGREGOR, SCARLETT JOHANSSON, SEAN BEAN, DJIMON HOUNSOU, ETHAN PHILLIPS, MAX BAKER, AARON STEPHANEK, DAVE DORMAN AND STEVE BUSCEMI. Lincoln Six-Echo is running for his life - a life that he knows little about except for two things. One: Authorities at the tightly controled facility that sheltered him said he would someday live in a paradise that is Earth's last inhabitable place. Two: It was all a lie. Ewan McGregor is Lincoln Six-Echo and Scarlett Johansson is Jordan Two-Delta, scrambling to elude deadly pursuers in an outside world they've never before set foot on. Michael Bay directs, delivering high-tech excitement as he peels back layers of mystery surrounding the fugitives. The sights dazzle. The pace thrills. The story, set in 2019, probes a jolting, palpably real future shock. "You have been choosen. The island awaits you." _________________________________________________________________________________________________ PEARL HARBOR BY MICHAEL BAY (again!) STARRING:BEN AFFLECK, JOSH HARTNETT, KATE BECKINSALE, CUBA GOODING, JR. TOM SIZEMORE, JON VOIGHT,COLM FERORE AND ALEC BALDWIN. December 7, 1941, was argurably the most devastating day in American history. Now that infamous day, the events leading up to it, and its aftermath are being re-created in a film that is certain to be one of the most mermorable moment in American history. Directed by Michael Bay , produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, written by Randall Wallace, and starring Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Alec Baldwin, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Jon Voight as FDR, Pearl Harbor, the movie, explores the lives of two daring young pilots whose worlds are drastically altered by the events leading up to World War Two. H.WOOD - DONE FIFTH

___________________________________________________________________ "THREE MEASURES OF GORDON'S, ONE OF VODKA, HALF A MEASURE OF KINA LILLET, SHAKE IT OVER ICE THEN ADD A THIN SLICE OF LEMON PEEL." - THE VESPER MARTINI. "BOND-JAMES BOND." BY MARTIN CAMPBELL STARRING: DANIEL CRAIG, EVA GREEN, MADS MIKKELSEN, JUDI DENCH, JEFFREY WRIGHT, GIANCARLO GIANNINI AND CATERINA MURINO. I'd personally recommend Casino Royale as its fun, exciting and there's changes in it. Firstly, the villian Le Chiffre, does not earn for global domination as did villians in all otherBond movies. Secondly, I guess Daniel Craig's Bond is more raw and fragile. A more human bond to expect in this film.We see Bond tortured when Le Chiffre goes bonkers and hits his vital manhood with a carpet beater (ouchies!), and he literally bleeds from his wounds, unlike previous Bonds, who were more slick presumably because of the help of gadgets and Q, the gadget-loving guy played by John Cleese. This is a classic Bond, the first one Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond wrote about. You will realise that the lack of gadgets in this movie (except for the heart-saving one) is noticeable too. CASINO ROYALE, the 21st James Bond adventure in the most successful franchise in film history, stars Daniel Craig in his debut as 007 and is based on Ian Fleming's first novel to feature the ultimate secret agent, which was published in 1953. CASINO ROYALE traces the early career of James Bond. His first "007" mission leads him to Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), banker to the world's terrorists. In order to stop him and bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. Bond is initially annoyed when a beautiful Treasury official, Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), is assigned to deliver his stake for the game and watch over the government's money. But as Bond and Vesper survive a series of lethal attacks by Le Chiffre and his henchmen, a mutual attraction develops, leading them both into further danger and events that will shape Bond's life forever. Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions presents Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in CASINO ROYALE. With a screenplay by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and Oscar winner Paul Haggis, the film was directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Brocoli. A United Kingdom-Czech Republic-German-USA Co-Production, CASINO ROYALE was produced under the combined banners of Metro-Goldwin-Mayer Pictures and Columbia Pictures with filming in Prague and Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic and on New Providence and Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Filming also took place at Lake Como and Venice in Italy before returning to the U.K. Back in the U.K, the production filmed at Dunsfold Airport in Surrey, Buckinghamshire's Black Park and on the legenary 007 stage at Pinewood Studios. British actor Daniel Craig is introduced in the role of James Bond in CASINO ROYALE, supported by a strong international cast. Dame Judi Dench returns as M, the Head of the British Secret Service. Vesper Lynd, the first woman who James Bond truly falls in love, is played by French actress Eva Green, and Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen takes the role of Le Chiffre, international money launderer and Bond's rival in the high-stakes poker game at the heart of the film. American actor Jeffrey Wright plays Felix Leiter, Bond's ally in the CIA, and distinguished Italian actor Giancarlo Giannini takes the role of Mathis, his MI6 contact. Caterina Murino, also Italian, plays Solange, the beautiful but unhappy wife of one of Le Chiffre's associates, who succumbs to Bond's charms too. Featured in the film is the new Aston Martin DBS, (in a special color, Casino Ice, not available until 2007) alongside with the Bond favorite Aston Martin DB5. And finally, Bond reveals the recipe for his favorite martini, " The Vesper". _________________________________________________________________________________________________
